Chicago-based playwright Kate Leslie visited Elon University on November 4-5 to teach a playwriting workshop and hold a reading of her new script The Love Code. Student actors read The Love Code to an appreciative audience of Elon students, faculty, and staff, and then everyone participated in a discussion of the script. The playwright scribbled furious notes as she received feedback on the The Love Code, which is still a work-in-progress. The play will be produced at Hollins University in January 2019, so Leslie used the Elon reading to gauge audience response, sharpen her dialogue, and plan revisions before the play’s first production. Elon University’s Performing Arts Department was thrilled to partner with the Playwriting MFA program at Hollins University to bring Kate Leslie to campus and to support the development of new work.
